Our Northern-based members (amongst others) had been asking for a track day in their part of the country for some time, so we visited Croft for the first time last year and it was a great success, so by popular demand we have secured a day at Croft again in 2020. The Club has taken the lead in booking the circuit on the basis that we will share track-time between ourselves and members of the ‘MX-5 Owners Club’. We have reserved exclusive use of the circuit for a 40 minute session per hour for L7C members, with MX-5 Owners Club participants using the remaining 20 minute session. Our running will commence in sessions (with participants grouped and allocated to one of two 20 minute sessions) but our intention is to move to open pit lane (OPL) format – allowing track access at any time throughout our 40 minute period – no later than lunchtime and, hopefully, before then. MX-5 Owners Club participants will continue using the remaining 20 minute session. The day is ‘noisy’, subject to a 105dB(A) limit measured statically prior to starting track activities. The track limit at any one time is 25 cars. The day will be open to drivers at all levels and as a result we will be offering our ‘Buddy System’ and free-of-charge instruction. The cost for a car and main driver is only £200, with an additional driver (who must be a Club member) paying £40 and passengers being welcome at £5 each. This promises to be a great mid-summer northern England Club Trackday that should appeal to all members, irrespective of location!
