Day two allows crews to build up a head of steam as they enter Scotland and head west to the rugged hills of Dumfries and Galloway for further superb vintage motoring. After a long day on the road, the luxurious surroundings of the Turnberry golf resort will be a welcome sight for weary crews. The third and final day embraces new territory for the Flying Scotsman as the route journeys north into the magnificent surroundings of the Southern Highlands before triumphally arriving at the final terminus - the world renowned Gleneagles Hotel. All the available 2019 Flying Scotsman places have now been allocated.
The 11th Flying Scotsman will be flagged away bright and early from Windermere on Friday 5 April for a day of scenic driving and exciting new challenges as the route explores the lesser known byways of Cumbria and the Northern Pennines en route to an overnight rest in the sidings at Slaley Hall.
Location: Windermere Lakes to Gleneagles
