Event Information For ' St. Albans Steam and Country Show 51st'

Date: 03 June 2017-04 June 2017 Times: 10:00 to 5pm
Car Information: We again hope to welcome St. Albans Corporation’s last surviving steam roller, which was delivered to the city in 1913 from Aveling & Porter of Rochester. The annual rally is now a well established event in the summer calendar of outside events, and will follow on from the success of previous events on this site. Over 30 full size steam engines will be presented in all their glory, in addition to old farm tractors, classic cars and lorries plus other bygones from our rich industrial and agricultural heritage. This event makes an enjoyable but affordable day out for both the family and enthusiast. For youngsters these steaming monsters provide both entertainment and education, a total contrast with the high-tec era we now live in. However, some of the older generation will remember steam rollers at work, while before the last world war steam wagons regularly pounded through St. Albans carrying long distance loads. The event will be held in the grounds of Oaklands College, just off the A1057 Hatfield Road, St. Albans, (Approx Satnav code AL4 0XR) and is only three miles from Junction 3 of the A1(M) motorway. There are frequent bus services (routes 300, 301, 724) from Hatfield or St. Albans railway stations which pass the site. Open from 10.00 to 5 p.m. on both days, entry charges are £8.00 for adults, £5.00 for children, £7 for Seniors or £20.00 for a family ticket. Car parking is included, and each family group receive a free programme. The rally is promoted by Herts Steam Club Ltd on behalf of the Society. More information on the rally and our other activities is available at our website, http://www.hertssteam.co.uk or email enquiries@hertssteam.co.uk All rally enquiries to: Mark Waite (HSCL), 13 Mountview Avenue, DUNSTABLE, Beds LU5 4DS.
