Speed Hill climbing is one of the oldest forms of motorsport, with the earliest events taking place in the late 19th Century in the UK and Europe. The sport follows a very simple format which hasn't changed since its inception; all vehicles are timed from point A to point B from a standing start. In 1947 the RAC formalised speed hill climbing in the UK with the start of the British Hill climb Championship (the first such championship in British Motorsport) and the championship is still going strong to this day. The 17 round series runs from Scotland to Devon and from the Channel Islands to Northern Ireland and features a huge variety of cars from humble saloons through to F1-engined, purpose built single-seaters running within a class structure. Come and see the fastest cars and drivers on what is often the deciding round of the Championship Other attractions: Bugatti Car Handicap, Prescott ‘B’ Licence Challenge, Shell Fuels Hill Climb Championship, Y Gelli Book Auctions Challenge Trophy, 2nd round of the Midland Hill Climb Championship, Prescott Gold Cup, Paul Matty Sportscars Classic Championship and the NHCA Motor Cycles The Prescott Gold Cup is open to all members of the Bugatti Owners Club. At the beginning of the season times are set for each class. Competitors who beats the target time for his or her class by the greatest margin over the three national events, wins the accolade. This is the decider! Aylesbury’s Trevor Willis won Prescott Gold Cup in 2012, and also set a new hill record of 36.24secs in an OMS CF25-RPE. Prescott is owned and run by the Bugatti Owners’ Club (BOC) who purchased the estate in 1937 and commenced converting the muddy, rutted drive into a speed hill climb ready for the opening rally in April 1938, when the current Club President, Earl Howe, opened proceedings by driving his type 57 Bugatti up the Hill. Now, as we approach our 80th birthday, it is not necessary to own a Bugatti to become a member and we welcome the interest of all car enthusiasts. Currently we have a membership of circa 1,750, including over 500 members from overseas.
